Hi, I’m Russell Henderson, founder of Algarve Property Buyer.
I grew up here. I went to international school in the Algarve from a very young age, and I’ve lived in this region most of my life. I’ve watched it grow through its ups and downs, which means I don’t just know the postcodes, I know why certain areas are quietly becoming interesting long before everyone else notices.
I’ve spent the last five years working in Algarve real estate, and in that time I became convinced this market needed something different. Almost everyone who calls themselves an agent here answers to the seller. We don’t. We work only for buyers, which means far less conflict of interest, and it means we can search the whole Algarve market on your behalf, not just whatever’s on our own books.
That’s the entire idea behind Algarve Property Buyer. A genuinely independent buyer’s agent, offering a high touch, full concierge service from your first enquiry to the day you get the keys. Sourcing, viewings, negotiation, mortgages, banking, paperwork. We turn over every stone and knock on every door it takes to find the right property, then we handle everything that follows.

1. Is Algarve Property Buyer a real estate agency?
We’re an independent buyer’s agency. Unlike a traditional estate agency, we never list property and never represent sellers. We work exclusively for buyers, searching the market on your behalf rather than showing you our own stock.
2. Do you only work with the properties on your website?
No. What’s listed here is a fraction of what we have access to. We work with partner agencies across the entire Algarve and can source off-market properties that never reach a portal at all.
3. Is your service really free?
Yes. We’re paid a share of the selling agency’s commission once a sale completes, the same commission that’s already built into the property’s price whether you use a buyer’s agent or not. You never pay us directly.
4. Why should I use a buyer's agent instead of going straight to an agency?
Every other agent you meet in the Algarve works for the seller, even when they’re being perfectly pleasant to you. We work only for you, which means honest advice, access to the whole market instead of one agency’s listings, and someone actually negotiating on your side.
5. How well do you know the Algarve?
Our founder grew up in the Algarve and has lived here most of his life, and our team has 5 years of experience in the local property market. We know the areas, the pricing, and where the good opportunities actually are, not just what’s on a portal.
6. What areas of the Algarve do you cover?
All of it. From hillside estates inland to golf villas in Quinta do Lago, coastal towns like Lagos and Tavira, and everywhere in between.
7. Do you help with anything beyond finding the property?
Yes. We support you through the entire process, mortgages, banking, negotiation, paperwork, right through to completion.
8. What if I already found a property myself?
That’s fine, tell us about it. We can still represent you, negotiate on your behalf, and manage the process from there.
